Overflight
Twenty-two years ago, in the first week of September, I moved to Toronto. I remember sitting at a cafe at Bay and Charles with my dad, and watching the jets overhead warming up for the big Air Show. I don't really ever go to air shows, but every year hearing those planes over the downtown, wherever I happened to be working or walking around this time of year, brought back those feelings of being young, in a big city, ready for anything.
I heard the jets again just now, banking over the downtown... but now they're telling me it's finally come time to move on. Sure, I'll miss this city: every Canadian should live here for a couple years. But everyone here should probably move somewhere else, too, at least for a little while. Me, I've stayed too long already. See ya, Toronto.
