Project Hero update
Just so we're all clear on the evolving position of those who oppose university scholarships for the children of Canadian soldiers killed in war:
Public funding provided by Veterans Affairs through the Children of Deceased Veterans Education Assistance Act, set up in the wake of the Korean War, was and is okay: no complaint here.
Any additional top-up funding that public universities choose to provide from their own funds for the same people in the wake of the Afghan War is not, because that would glorify an "illegal and immoral war."
Glad we cleared that up.
(I am personally at a loss on the basis for saying Korea was obviously less illegal than Afghanistan, given a once-over glance of the Security Council resolutions and House of Commons resolutions that exist for both, but hey, I'm not a university professor, either.)
