Darfur vs. Afghanistan

This seems entirely correct to me. Peacekeeping as traditionally defined, with international impartiality towards both sides, is not significantly more viable in Darfur than it is in Afghanistan, and the stance of the mission, providing the protection of civilians was the generally perceived point, would eventually devolve into much the same, as was made obvious by the Haskanita raid in late September, in which 10 AU peacekeepers were killed.
